Health status of sciaenid species following mass fish kills in coastal waters of Niger Delta, Nigeria

The length-weight relationship, condition factor, and hepatosomatic index of three the most abundant commercially valuable croaker (Sciaenidae) species in coastal waters Nigeria were examined following mass fish kills. A total 489 individuals Pseudotolithus sampled, elongatus formed bulk catch, comprising 67.55% by numbers, followed P. typus senegalensis, which represented 23.15% 22.56%, respectively. LWRs estimated to be BW = 0.0133TL2.38 for typus, 0.0537TL2.86 0.00391TL3.00 elongatus. factors recorded ranged from 0.64±0.04 1.93±0.03 0.74±0.04 1.85±0.05 0.73±0.03 to1.61±0.01 elongtatus.
